Have you ever wondered what it takes to transform a raw sheet of metal into a wearable piece of art? Whether you’re curious about working with fire, interested in traditional techniques, or dreaming of redesigning family heirlooms, our hands-on workshops provide the perfect foundation.
Our curriculum is rooted in the industry-standard teachings of Alan Revere, following the master techniques outlined in 'Professional Jewelry making: A Contemporary Guide to Traditional Jewelry Techniques.'
Every masterpiece begins at the jeweler’s bench. In this introductory phase, you will move beyond simple marks to master the rhythm of the saw.
The Bench Basics: Learn to properly tension and lubricate saw blades to prevent breakage.
The Technique: Practice cutting intricate curves and straight lines in brass or copper.
The Finish: Master the use of flat, half-round, and needle files to refine your shapes with professional symmetry and clean lines.
Once you’ve mastered the shape, it’s time to give the metal soul. This lesson explores how light interacts with different surfaces to create dimension and style.
Manipulation: Use hammers, rolling mills, and burs to create organic or faceted textures.
Detailing: Experiment with steel stamps and wire brushes for unique patterns.
Polishing: Learn the spectrum of sheen, from a sophisticated soft matte to a mirror-like high shine.
Soldering is the heart of jewelry construction. Here, you will learn "the dance of the torch"—the precise moment when heat and metal become one.
The Mechanics: Understand the difference between hard, medium, and easy solders.
The Process: Practice joint preparation, flux application, and precise solder placement.
The Mastery: Tackle sweat soldering, butt joints, and T-joints while learning to manage heat direction and fire scale.
This intensive series is designed to take you from beginner to confident creator, building your skills week by week.
