Jewelry Making 101

Build the essential bench skills every jeweler relies on: sawing, filing, texturing, surface finishing, and soldering.

Have you ever seen a gorgeous gemstone or a piece of jewelry you admire and wondered, "How was this created by people and Mother Nature?" You don't have to just look at beautiful jewelry—you can do it yourself. Whether you are a complete beginner or a self-taught creator looking to master professional techniques, our intensive classes are designed to take you from a curious admirer to a skilled artisan. Guided by the internationally respected principles of Alan Revere's Professional Jewelrymaking, you will learn the exact foundational skills utilized by goldsmiths all over the world. Following four specialized classes, you will gain hands-on experience on precious metals and learn to identify rare gemstones like a professional jeweler.

Continue building confidence with more advanced fabrication, construction, finishing, and design techniques. Jewelry Making 102: Joining & Structuring (Intermediate)

Take your foundational skills to the next bench level by learning how to build complex, multi-dimensional structures.

  • Torch Mastery & Soldering: Learn to safely control a jeweler's torch using hard, medium, and easy solders. You will discover the physics of heat to create strong, clean, and completely invisible joints.
  • Dimensional Design: Move past flat metal. Master the techniques required to construct rings, custom earring settings, and interconnected bracelets that endure a lifetime of wear.

Gem Identification Lab 101

Learn how gemologists observe, compare, and identify gemstones using practical tools and foundational testing methods.

Stop guessing what you are looking at. Step into the shoes of a gemologist and learn the scientific secrets hidden inside Earth's rarest minerals.

  • Optical Testing: Learn how to handle a jeweler's loupe and microscope to spot natural inclusions, growth lines, and synthetic imitations.
  • The Big Three: Build a bulletproof foundation in identifying the core physical properties of Diamonds, Rubies, and Sapphires.

Gem Identification Lab 102
